DNUE: Dry Needling - Upper Extremity Therapist


The main objective of this course is to provide instruction to Occupational Therapists/ Upper Extremity Physical Therapists in the application of Dry Needling. This will consist of a variety of dry needling theories and rationales and will include dry needling history, models of treatment, indications/ contraindications, OSHA standards, safety and applications of TDN in the upper extremities. This course will review the current information related to the role of myofascial trigger points on neuro-musculoskeletal pain and dysfunction and to provide instruction and practical training for using dry needling to treat pain and movement disorders. The current knowledge about the mechanisms of effect and the literature related to the effects of dry needling on various neuro-musculoskeletal disorders will be discussed in this course. Dry needling techniques will be taught for a variety of OT neuro-musculoskeletal diagnoses. An examination is performed at the end of this course to offer the certificate of completion. A score of 80% or higher will be required on both the written and practical examination. This course is designed specifically for Occupational Therapists and Physical Therapists who specialize in Upper Extremity. It is your responsibility to know your state's scope of practice regarding Dry Needling.
